Bullet Journal Period Trackers

- Slight rant about periods being so secretive due to their “dirty” nature (and why we need to change this!)
- An incredible podcast recommendation to learn more about your cycle – the whole thing, not just the week that you bleed!
- What to include in your period tracker spread
- Supplies recommendation to get started bullet journaling if you are a beginner
- Inspiration of how others are making period trackers in their own bullet journal!

Are we finally at a point where we don’t need to feel dirty or embarrassed about getting periods?
I am a grown woman and still sometimes feel awkward telling someone that I don’t feel well because I’m on my period. I will also get weird asking a friend for a tampon in public. As if its some big shocker that this thing happens to me. Over 50% of the worlds population will receive periods during their lifetime – it’s hardly uncommon.
Pause and think about the quote in the photo above. You are a badass. You can bleed for a week without dying.
I can only imagine what meaning primitive cultures would give that since they didn’t know exactly what was happening.

There are many cultures today who believe that women are at their wisest and closest to God when they are on their period because it is really so profound.
We need to remove the stigma and learn to honour our bodies during this time.
If you want to learn more about your period/cycle :
There is an amazing podcast that I listened to called the 4 phase cycle. I tried to briefly summarize what they do and found it extremely difficult since I have learned so much from this podcast. Here is a quote from their website :
When we say the words “menstrual cycle” or “feminine cycle”, we’re talking about a lot more than the days of your period. We’re actually talking about the entire month that creates the ebb and flow of your hormones, emotions, the expression of your physical body and the quality of your life!
The podcast is run by a two women. The one woman is a medical doctor and the other is a holistic health coach and FDN practitioner. They really know their stuff and combine conventional medicine with holistic healing. I learned so much from them and recommend it to every female that I know.

One of the most earth shattering things that I learned while listening to the podcast was that your body wants you to rest the first three days of your period. You do not need to feel guilty if you just want to hang out watching Netflix. Your hormones are influencing this and it should be respected.
The other thing that I learned that was so helpful was that there actually is a time each month that if you implemented new habits that they are more likely to stick! During one of the phases, your hormones make you more motivated with more energy.

This podcast plus bullet journal period tracking will make such a difference to you you and your health!
What should you include in your bullet journal period tracker?

First and foremost, this page needs to be simple enough that you will actually use it. As with all of your bullet journal layouts, if it is too complicated, you just won’t use it! Which would defeat the purpose entirely.
Grab some ideas from the photos below but if you were to add a couple other things, then just the dates of menstruation and these would be good:
- Any symptoms that presented
- Mood tracker that you track daily to see how your hormones affect you (which is a huge part of the podcast I recommended above)
- Self Care ideas
- Dates of ovulation (you can take your temperature every morning to find out when you ovulate or purchase some cheap strips from amazon so you can keep track for a few months until you get an idea of when it happens monthly. Whether you are trying to conceive, trying to not conceive or even abstaining, you should become familiar with your own body. Trust me, it will change your life!)
- Dates that you have sex. Whether you are planning on getting pregnant or not, it is useful information to have.

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO GET STARTED?

TOOLS TO GET STARTED BULLET JOURNALING:
I wanted to share some of the best and most affordable tools available for bullet journalling.
- This notebook which is almost identical to the cult favorite and has raving reviews for a fraction of the cost!
- This pen that won’t bleed through the page and is great for inputting your dailies
- This Pen for art work and faux calligraphy
- These Markers for decorating and color coding your journal
- Stencils for making layouts quicker, or if you’re not handy at drawing
Also not necessary but this MEGA pack of PRINTABLES is amazing!
Obviously the only things that you need to get started is a notebook and pen and you will use them the most. However, the markers are useful for colour coding your journal and the stencils will save you time in creating beautiful layouts!

Make your Bullet Journal Period Tracker Beautiful to look at!
If a page in your bullet journal is something you like looking at then it is more likely to get used.
Very simple bullet journal period tracker to use if you are just getting started tracking it. Just colour the boxes on the dates that you get your period. Soon you will be able to foreshadow when the next period is coming based off of the fact that it always happens in a consistent cycle.
If it is not a consistent cycle then this will be great information to take to a naturopath to figure out why.
Use a quote that reminds you that you are a Badass!
Same idea of how you track the days that you get your period as the example above. I love the addition of the quote!
Track intensity of your period and keep self care ideas at the ready
Do you love using color in your bullet journal? You can easily keep track of the intensity of the flow by using shades of pink and red. Red for the heavy days, pink for spotting!
Keep track of your daily mood to compare to your cycle with this mood tracker and period tracker layout
Compare your mood and period by turning the two trackers into a spread. You can gain a lot of insight into your body and hormones throughout the entire cycle from this information.
Shark Week Layout Idea
Change the images if you aren’t into the phrase “shark week” to describe your menstruation but definitely keep the amazing layout and tracking inspiration. Everything you you want to be tracking in one page, intensity of the flow, symptoms accompanying the period and whether or not you were sexually active.
Bullet Journal Period Tracker Tip : Use stickers!
If you need extra inspiration, there are tons of adorable stickers you can use as well!
Discreet Period Tracker Idea
You don’t have to highlight the page and make it obvious if you don’t want to. Change the color to yellow an no one would know what this was tracking if you wanted it to remain a little private.
Simple Bullet Journal Period Tracker Ideas
“How’s your flow?” is such a dainty and simple period tracker idea. You could create a key with symbols to add to each square if you want to track some extra period symptoms and if you didn’t then it makes a very simple period tracker that anyone could use!
What about you?
