The Best Bullet Journal Supplies To Make Perfect Layouts And Spreads

July 14, 2019 by BPI

List of the best supplies for your bullet journal. Beginner and budget friendly notebooks, pens, markers and more that you can get for cheap. Plus some BuJo hacks to make life easier!

I am so excited to finally be making this list of bullet journal supplies! I have been testing different supplies in my own bullet journal for awhile now and I finally have a list of stuff that I believe makes a huge difference in how a spread comes together. Best part is that you can buy everything off of Amazon and most is available on Amazon prime so you should get it in two days or so! Which is about as long as my patience lasts these days when I am anxiously waiting for art supplies lol!

I have included my favourite notebooks (Which are super affordable). My favourite markers, pens and craft supplies AND a polaroid photo hack. Since I love adding photos to my BuJo and I highly recommend you start adding photos to your own!

This post may contain affiliate links which means that if you purchase something through one of my links, I make a small commission at no extra cost to you. Thank you for supporting this blog! Read my full disclosure policy here.

I really hope you enjoy this list and that it is helpful to you!

The Best Bullet Journal Supplies:

Bullet Journal Notebooks

Dot Journal

AMAZING journal! A fraction of the cost one of the name brand versions with rave reviews on Amazon. This is the one I use and I love it! The paper is good quality and thick. The only thing that is a negative is the fact that the pages aren’t numbered but it doesn’t bother me since I index with washi coded page edges. (Read this post if you don’t know what I am talking about)

Grid Journal

A great option for a more minimalist spread or for a more scrapbook spread. Made by the same company as the dot journal above so it is an awesome choice as well.

Mechanical Pencil + Eraser

Mechanical Pencil

For sketching in a page before putting pen on the paper

Eraser

For erasing those sketches.

Bullet Journal Pens

Pilot Pen

Great for putting in your dailies or anything else that you want to writing to be precise and small.

Micron

Everyone’s favorite pen for a reason. Great for lettering and drawing. Comes in a pack with different sizing giving you more versatility in your Bullet Journal.

Tombow

Great for calligraphy and lettering. Comes in a pack of soft and hard tip. I love the hard tip when writing a tiny title (such as the days of the week) and the soft tip for big titles (such as writing the month).

Markers + Water Color

Crayola Markers

100 markers for color coding and decorating your journal.

Water Brushes

For giving your Bullet Journal a water color effect, just fill the pen with water and then smudge what you have done with the Crayola markers. (Do this on water color paper and then tape in to your Bullet Journal otherwise the paper will get wrinkly from being wet). In the photo above they did a line with the marker and then went over it with the water brush. Giving it that beautiful soft background.

Bullet Journal Decorating

Washi Tape for Bullet Journals
@sleepy.bujo

Double Sided Tape

I use this tape constantly to decorate and love it! I make a lot of mistakes so I will tape craft paper or photos over top of mistakes to hide them #hack

Craft Paper

The brown paper used in the photo above. It seems so simple, but makes for awesome Bullet Journal crafts!

Stencils

For creating layouts quickly and adding different fonts. I love that this bundle comes with a pouch. Not all the stencils work great (some are too small to get a pen in). I suggest practicing in a notebook before you stencil in your book. It creates unique designs and fonts that you otherwise wouldn’t have. I use mine at least monthly.

Washi Tape

Solid colours for adding quick design.

Floral Washi Tape

Floral tape because it’s gorgeous with the craft paper.

Polaroid Hack

@manonmartineau_

Add photos to your bujo to document your days the easy way! I take photos on my phone, then print them on the printer!

Polaroid Smartphone Printer

Polaroid Film

For Carrying All The Stuff

Pencil Case

Fits most of the stuff so you can stay a little organized!
